Perfectly adequate for small pilot holes and wire placement, though for denser cortical bone a powered handpiece is quicker. Chuck tightening is easy.

Good tactile control
The manual drill gives excellent feel for pilot holes near delicate structures where I want to sense the far cortex breakthrough. The chuck holds K-wires and small bits securely.
