About Locking Plate

Locking plates provide angular-stable fixation in which the screw head threads engage a threaded plate hole, creating a fixed-angle construct that acts as an internal external fixator. This design is favoured in osteoporotic bone, comminuted fractures, and metaphyseal regions where conventional screw purchase is limited.

Because the plate does not rely on friction against the bone surface, periosteal blood supply is better preserved, supporting biological healing. Constructs come in anatomically contoured and straight formats in titanium alloy or stainless steel, often with combination holes accepting locking and compression screws.

Hospitals and surgeons assess locking mechanism reliability, screw trajectory options, plate thickness, and instrument sets, and confirm ISO 13485 controls and CE marking before procurement.
